Determining product-based quality management
Quality planning (APQP) and product and process approval (PPAP) for purchased parts are a key part of our supplier quality management system. APQP and PPAP ensure preventative quality assurance in the industrialization phase as well as a smooth series launch. The master step defines the type and scope of the services to be provided in the context of quality planning and product and process approval. The master step is determined before an inquiry is made to the supplier and the supplier has to take the respective services into account in his offer. We can ensure a well-founded quality management program by defining and planning the necessary measures and documentation for purchased parts with our suppliers in a timely manner.
Initial discussion with the supplier
Good communication and planning between Behr and its suppliers early on is an essential success factor. The initial discussion forms the foundation for this. At this meeting, the cooperation for quality planning (APQP) during the development phase and the subsequent product and process approval process (PPAP) are discussed and agreed on. The initial discussion takes place before the supplier is awarded a written contract. Thus, all open topics are clarified in a binding way before the written contract is awarded.
Control plan
All tests to be done during the production of a part, on the part itself, or in the process are summarized in the control plan.
